Rezumat

The article evaluates the Independence Phenomenon of post-Soviet states in its entirety, pointing out the factors that embarrassed over the years, in a way or another, the process of consolidation and affirmation of the mentioned states’ Independence. It examines the role of Russia in the post-Soviet space, showing how the former imperial center has used unresolved territorial disputes and energy resources for political purposes in order to increase its influence in the region; analyzes the colour revolutions and their significance as a final step of the transitional process from the former Soviet Republics to independent states; assesses the 20-year-period of political changes in the post-Soviet states.
