De ce probleme se preocupă teatrul de la originile sale dacă nu de cele referitoare la raportul umanităţii cu cetatea? În acest sens, „problemele” ar face, practic, parte din esenţa însăşi a teatrului. Istoria teatrului nu s-a schimbat deloc la acest capitol, și teatrul contemporan nu e o excepție de la această regulă, ci dimpotrivă. O evidenţă ce ne conduce la problemele actuale ale teatrului este şi faptul că el a devenit o marfă care trebuie să se vândă şi să fie rentabilă. De asemenea, de mai mulți ani deja proiecţiile video par a-i bântui pe creatori, în măsura în care acestea sunt folosite în multe spectacole, fără o înțelege a necesităţii lor şi fără o abilitate de mânuire din punct de vedere tehnic. Ar trebui rezolvată şi o altă ecuație, cea propusă de noul (și foarte falsul) antagonism dintre teatrul de text și teatrul de imagine. Acest fapt ridică întrebarea încă nerezolvată a formării (regiei, aproape inexistente aici, a jocului actoricesc etc.). După cum vedem, și într-o manieră aproape infernală, problemele teatrului contemporan sunt legate unele de altele... la infinit!
