The doctor habilitate Vasile Pavel, a remarkable dialectologist and scholar, reaches the age of 80 years. His octogenarian age, fortified during 55 years of scientific research and teaching, is crowned with remarkable achievements. A recognized specialist in dialectology, linguistic geography and in nomination theory (onomasiology), the celebrated professor is concerned directly, more or less, with other areas such as general linguistics, contacts between languages, sociolinguistics, speech culture, unity of the Romanian language.
