Rezumat

This study considers the specialist training system and the forms of participation of Latvian social actors in the specialists training process. Some practices from Latvia can be implemented in the Republic of Moldova as well. The author has made a set of proposals to improve the education system and to involve social actors in the specialists training, and namely: to implement the real autonomy of educational institutions, to strengthen the higher education system and to incorporate the colleges within universities, to develop and implement a professional standard of the profession that would serve as a basis for curriculum development and would be an essential document which determines the content of the final qualifying exam, and to involve the students in the educational process by enhancing the role of the students’ trade unions and students’ organizations in the university’s life. It's an absurd situation when the presidents of the students’ organizations are "elected" teachers. The author proposes to include the representatives of professional associations and the trade unions of the sector in the final examination committees. An interesting practice, worthy of being implemented, is that the experts of the trade unions of the sector and employers' representatives can be included in the accreditation committees of educational institutions. It would be also useful to allow students’ participation in the accreditation committees as well.
