The present article examines the most representative contemporary interpretations of the phenomenon of democracy and civil society, a fact which is elucidated through the rule of law and parties management practice, through dind state power. Analtical emphases are placed on the general and particular aspects of the subject investigated, especially on some specific issues faced by the Republic of Moldova. Among the latter, we may note in particular the political crisis and the democratic deficit, variables which ultimately causes a dysfunctional civil society which creates conditions for such a society. The paper analyses the causes of inefficiency of democratization process and the underdevelopment of the “third” sector of society. Such causes are rooted in objective factors, and in the subjective alike, which is well reconfirmed by the practice of relations between the political and civil sectors from the Republic of Moldova. It is significant that the national research field is focused on the activity of state’s democratic institutions and civil society organizations in the current complex and contradictory conditions of making the best use of the European option, European Association and Euro-integration of the Republic of Moldova.
