The paper contains the results of hydrodynamic model HEC-RAS (USA) application for flood wave modeling on example of the Byc River, which flows through the central part of the Republic of Moldova. The Byc River Basin combines both natural factors of floods generation(heavy rains with maximum of 180 mm/d) as well as anthropogenic factors, which determine intensification of their impact (urbanization, deforestation, the Ghidighici reservoir operation). For flood wave modeling the digital elevation model of the floodplain of the sector from the Ghidighici reservoir to the Byc River mouth was generated as well as the hydrographs of 0.1-10 % probability were modeled. Finally, the maps of flood hazard/risk areas, water depth and velocity were created. |
