Chronic migraine associated with essential arterial hypertension: clinical aspects,
differential diagnosis, pathogenetic interferences (series of clinical cases)
Association between migraine and essential arterial hypertension is an old issue, widely
discussed in the specialized literature. Both pathologies are well known risk factors for
cardiovascular diseases and silent white matter lesions. Analysis of patients with migraine and hypertension has evoked an interesting patient’s interpretation of the condition: the patient with previous headache history from the moment he was told about the hypertension has forgotten about migraine and was considering every headache as caused by hypertension. This situation leads to neglect of migraine treatment and antihypertensive medication overuse.
