This article addresses the importance of questions in teaching and learning process. Questions can and have been used for a wide variety of educational purposes: reviewing previously read or studied material; diagnosing student abilities, preferences, and attitudes; stimulating critical thinking etc. There are described the levels and types of questions as well as the architecture of powerful questions which can be used by teachers in order to achieve the lesson objectives and facilitate student’s learning. From the author perspective developing student’s abilities to ask and answer questions will help them to think critically and make good decisions on the battlefield.
