HIV/AIDS infection continues to be the main problem of public health in Republic of Moldova. Since 1987 and till 2007, there were registered 4201 people with HIV/AIDS infection (prevalence 98.73 to 100000 of population). In the period till 2001 the epidemic process was mostly described by spreading between intra-venous drug consumers (IDC). During last years we can notice the trend of decreasing the quote of IDC between the HIV-positive people, and the raise of the quote of people infected during heterosexual contact (20.26% in 2001 and 68.67
in 2007). Between 2005 and 2007 we have taken measures to improve the legislative base, strategic planning of activities, organization and monitoring of these activities. The National Program for prophylaxis and control of HIV/AIDS infection and STD for the 2006-2010 was ratified. We have developed the territorial programs. We have developed,
and the Parliament of the Republic has ratified on 16.02.2007 the law “About HIV/AIDS infection”
