Translation has long been known as ensuring communication between individuals belonging to different linguistic systems. To cope successfully in oral translation, it is necessary to have a proper pronunciation training, in order to be able to understand oral messages even when the speaker's source language pronunciation or technical difficulties do not allow discerning message and the context cannot help. This is especially important in case of complex monophonemic units where the structure and articulatory dynamics of present particular difficulties. From this perspective, the article addresses the issue of phonetic aspect of translation process on the basis of English and Romanian compound consonantic monophonemic units at the level of consonantism. There is also presented a comparative and contrastive analysis of the given sounds in English and Romanian at the level of articulation.
