This article is a part of a PhD thesis where the author attempts to explore the possibility of using the internet to fulfill some didactic aims, and namely, to reinforce the intake and improve the learning of French as a second language. The present article analyzes the results of an experiment carried out with the help of macro-assignments for distant learning and traditional micro-assignments. The experiment was held at the French Centre for Co-operation and Culture from Egypt during May and July 2010. This experiment led to the creation of a virtual resource centre meant
to improve the studying of French. Thus, the article presents in brief the most important results obtained with the help of the virtual resource centre and which fully accont for the author’s role as a distant learning instructor.
