But the most important issue related to trade deficit of Republic of Moldova is, still, the lack of competitiveness of national products, a fact which limits the supply on the domestic market but also on the foreign one. The very high degree of concentration with respect to the foreign trade of goods conditions a very high dependency of the national economy on the conjectural fluctuations on the traditional CIS markets. The analysis of the foreign trade flows of goods shows that the Republic of Moldova remains a preponderantly agricultural-industrial land, and that is the reason why in our exports the agricultural/food products continue to be predominant along with some products of the traditional sectors of economy. The export performances must be based on competitive advantages, on developing the capacities and competencies of the export sectors and on creating an economy that is able to develop under the conditions of free trade and in a more and more globalised market. The strategic orientation statement Republic of Moldova about the European Union accession has strengthened in certain manner the entire society, the competitiveness of the country under all aspects defining it, might turn into a national idea which would allow for the attainment of this objective.
