Rezumat

Alexei Vakulovski’s Famine is a document-book about the terrible drama of 1946- 1947 famine, narrated by survivors of the scourge. They are the author’s villagers from Antonesti. Helped and encouraged by the teacher of Romanian literature, Alexei Vakulovski, the characters of the book have agreed to disclose the past, telling their stories without bitterness, desire for revenge and without indictment. They tell, among sighs, how they were deprived of the last crust of bread and how their children died of hunger in their arms. This book is valuable because it brings into present the past that we must take, with all its pain as well as with all the lessons it teaches.

Cuvinte-cheie
famine, death, poverty, suffering, bread.
