The anthology The Archeus of the Margin written by the critic Andrei Turcanu is a book of attitude that defines the writer’s critical vision on Bessarabian literature and his attitude of a man of the city. It is a defining book, i.e. it shows the spirit of Bessarabian postwar literature, its evolution vectors and the literary imagery of Bessarabia and of the Bessarabians as archeic expression of Romanism with its historical doublets and its tragic deviants. This view of literature is announced like a program and with vigor of a life creed. The literary work bothers the writer only as ontological resonance, as archeic sense that is found in the hidden structures of artistic imagination. In the critic vision of the archeity of a margin Andrei Turcanu manages to harmonize a structural, conceptual “urbanism” with „ruralism” of vigor and ancestral feeling.
