How do we have to read and critically interpret Faptura mamei, which is considered by the wellknown writer Ioan Alexandru as “a worldwide masterpiece”? Being written in 1976, the poem represents a lyrical-philosophical quintessence of all poems belonging to Grigore Vieru that evoke mother`s image and motherhood as a solar myth of the human being in time, space and history. In terms of species, Faptura mamei is a biblical psalm, comparable in many aspects with the Psalms of David. Alex. Stefanescu, a great critic, noted that when we intend to interpret Vieru, “we have to pay utmost importance to each word, as it was gained hardly”.
