This paper interprets Nicolae Dabija’s „ars poetica”. The poet is known to be the leader of the generation of the 70s. His poetry is viewed in the context of modernist paradigm. The paradox of Dabija’s poetic pattern is revealed in his attempt to establish eclectic poetics in which elements of the „pure poetry” will interpenetrate with Messianic poetry. The author illustrates the evolution of Dabija’s poetic concept from one volume to another arguing that by the 1989 while fighting censorship Dabija was an Orphic poet and after the declaration of independence he became a Messianic poet.
