Based on the record of the volume Jordan Datcu or living among and for books, the author of the paper outlines the profile of the literary historian, folklorist, ethnologist and editor Jordan Datcu (born on June 10, 1933), PhD of Philology, experienced researcher at „G. Călinescu” Institute of History and Literary Theory of the Romanian Academy, where he is entrusted with the responsibility of the coordinating editor of the General Dictionary of Romanian literature. He is the author of the Dictionary of Romanian ethnologists (I-III, 1998-2001), a work that is characterized by thorough documentation and a remarkable power of synthesis.
