The study of such a phenomenon as the national character has a deep historical scientific and philosophical tradition. Belarus has issued a series of works written by Belarusian scientists. In these works the authors make an attempt to identify the characteristic features of the Belarusian national character. Their emphasis on the historical past, testifying to the hard, dramatic and sometimes tragic history of the Belarusian people influenced the formation of their national character. The number of features which, in their development, formed the Belarusians is viewed by Belarusian scientists as a kind of identifying features which, in their complex manifestation, distinguish the Belarusians form other nations.
