The European Council, being an important element of the European system of international relations, from the very beginning got an interest and desire to the development of the political dialogue with the new independent states of the Central and Eastern Europe.
According to the official documents the 30th of January 1992 is considered to be the beginning of the political dialogue of the Republic of Moldova with the European Council, when Moldova required the status of a special invitation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council. The Republic of Moldova was accepted unanimously and became the 35th state of the EC on the 27th of June, 1995. The present article reflects the stages made by the Republic of Moldova for achieving the status of the member-state of the European Council. |
