Between 1888 and 1902, Romanian Geographical Society printed an important paper that even today remained the reference in the field: The Great Geographical Dictionary of Romania, in 5 volumes. Further, the same society was preoccupied with a new series of books – Geographical Dictionaries of Romanian Provinces outside the Kingdom. One of these works is the Geographical Dictionary of Bessarabia, the author is Zamfir Arbore, published in 1904 in Bucharest, in Graphic Workshops I. V. Socec, „reviewed and approved by the editorial board: Grig. Tocilescu, Iannescu and Gion; printed with the support of George John Lahovari”. In the article below the author presents and analyzes a new edition of the Dictionary ..., issued with his support at the publishing house that he honorably runs.
