Rezumat | ||||||
This paper evokes the personality of Isidor Vorobchievici (1836-1903), a founding father of musical education in Cernowitz. Composer, poet (he published poetry under the pen name Danilo Mlaca), choir conductor, but mainly teacher, Isidor Vorobchievici is the first Romanian musician who
succeeded in publishing a Harmony handbook (1869), for the use of his students at the Cernowitz Theological Seminar. All Romanian composers who lived in Bucovina at the end of the 19th century (Eusebie and Gheorghe Mandicevschi, Ciprian Porumbescu, Tudor Flondor, Mihai Ursuleac, Ilarion Voronca a. o.) are linked to Vorobchievici, definitely the most important music teacher of the city of Cernowitz. |
