The present day stage can be described as the one when there is an irreversible passage from the economy predominantly based upon physical resources to the economy based predominantly upon knowledge. Theorists as well patricians begin to state that in the 21st century the competitiveness of organizations, manifested within a globalized economy, will priory arise from the knowledge capital. Within such a context, the role of the intellectual capital as strategic resource of the organization is incontestable. It is the argument that supports the actual study. The present work proposes a series of theoretical considerations upon the intellectual capital concept, as well as a way to analyze its components within the frame work of George Bacovia University in Bacau (higher education institution, legal person of private law and public utility, established in 1992).
