Rezumat

The article discusses some political and ideological assumptions of recent feminist literary theory and criticism and their interpretative and conceptual outcomes. The methodological and ideological radicalism are treated as expressions of hermeneutical hubris that, in „approaching” the recalcitrant modernist texts, like Lolita by V. Nabokov, display a tendency to subsume the experience of reading to the theoretical and ideological frameworks, thus overlooking the subversive potential of literature, its ability to transform all forms of ideology and doxical thinking. The Nabokovian novel is construed as a site of radical indecidability, ethical and language aporias, and double binds that are irreducible to oppositional and totalizing interpretative schemes. Instead, such stubborn texts prompt us to consider a type of reflexive dialogical criticism whose truth derives from inter-relating and overlapping methods and discourses.
