Rezumat | ||||||
The tradition of a century proves that Bessarabia gave Romanian literature and culture a number of personalities who took refuge across the Prut and revenged the „inner exile” from home by the paroxysmal creative exuberance. They were not too many in number, but thanks to the grandeur and the specifity of the masterpiece and socio-cultural activity that clearly evokes the geological gigantism in its manifestations of unleashed specter, they form a distinct, unmistakable group. Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, Constantin Stere, Paul Goma, together with the predecessor Alecu Russo, who is the first in that paradigmatic series of men of letters with his poem „The Song of Romania”. There should also be mentioned Antonie Plamadeala – a Bessarabian who left behind him an impressive library of historical studies and ecclesiastical researches, and as a great bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Church, a huge cultural-household work made by erecting or restoration of churches, monasteries and historical buildings. Their great contribution to Romanian culture and literature is the character and openness to universality. |
