This article offers an evaluative view on the irony and parody forms in the context of the postmodern literary movement. The Postmodern text is accused of abandoning history in favor of endless game and authentic ironic cultural areas. Parody and no doubt irony have become a sign of episteme and the generalization asking new questions about the usefulness and relevance of this model in understanding and representation at the beginning of the 21st century.
In this context we questioned the value of one of the redoubtable problematic work that has established itself as a postmodern booklet in Romanian literature – The Levant by Mircea Cartarescu. Its innovative way of re-reading and text analysis obtained during the required period the settling of historical values - twenty years after the onset. The research provides the postmodern concepts of (self) irony and (self) parody, revealed in contextuality of The Levant, determined by parody perspective of the text and ironic tone printed in speech by the author. |
