The study, The first poetess and her absolute merits (Maria Suciu-Bosco), proves that Maria Suciu-Bosco from Ardeal is the first poetess in Romanian literature, the title attributed once to Matilda Cugler from Iasi by Tudor Vianu. Besides the fact that Maria Suciu-Bosco has the merit of being the first poetess, there are also presented her merits in poetry. The poetess from Ardeal was the inaugurator of a new typology of poetry “of Didona”. The “didonic” lyricism was brought about by the feeling of suffering because of love of a woman parted from her beloved, the feeling that creates the pathetic atmosphere in the poems. This lyricism marks both the heroic poetry and the poetry of naturist and folk character.
