In the present article, the author highlights the contribution brought by the tenor Mihail Muntean to the development of bel canto in the Republic of Moldova, presenting the historical hero Petru Rareş, from the play with the same name by Eduard Caudella. In this article, M. Muntean is perceived as a remarkable figure of the lyric scene of the Republic of Moldova. Based on musical examples (areas, duets, ensembles) there is thoroughly analyzed the central part from the view point of composition methods and their interpretation. Hereby is presented the way in which the performer solves the vocal difficulties thanks to the exceptional vocal training, combined harmoniously with a mastership of a dramatic artist. The present article shall arouse the interest of musicologists, by the fact that namely thereby Petru Rareş play has found for the first time a specialized analysis.
