The most impressive form of the representation of a lyrical hero from the poem by L. Damian is that of defiance, of active opposition and resistance, that of struggle. The „collective forces” of compulsion and torment of the totalitarian tyrannical government are overseen everywhere as well as the author’s rebellion that is destructive, swift and direct and that is disguised or revealed under different allegorical forms or cultural symbols. The pathos of flagellation is transmitted with the same power of percussion to the waste of the identifying signs. In his poems there is presented permanent rebellion against the corruption of the living, of vitiating of the organic, the censuring of rules which humiliate life, freedom, of stiffness in the forms of artificiality. All signs of the technological epoch have a polemic alluding tone that is directed against a totalitarian society which had a primary aim to create a communist paradise on the earth and to create an adequate personality for this „paradise”, a „new man”, a „superman of tomorrow”. As the „trembling” and „melancholy” are diversion from the „schemes” of the engineers of human „centaurs” that indicate the presence of life, in the same way „ the insane” (or „a grey-haired child”) is a diversion from the docile collective „wisdom”, from the homogeneity deprived of the character and authenticity of a consciousness that is mutilated through fear and brainwashing.
