Rezumat

Evidence of relations between peoples can be noticed in different species of popular comic Romanian narrative (story, anecdote, joke, etc.). Throughout their history for centuries, the Romanians, occasionally living with people of different ethnicities, particularly (in order of diachronic presence) with the Jews, the Gypsies, the Bulgarians, Serbs, Turks, Greeks, Saxons (a Germanic tribe), the Hungarians, the Germans, the Székely (Magyarized Turks), the Russians, the Swabians or Suebs (another Germanic tribe), made up many funny stories of their cohabitation, stories told from mouth to mouth. The goals of comic treatment of relations between the Romanians and representatives of other nations include, among others the divine seal on the specifics of each nation, the effect of work, paying of work and rewarding of food, people’s hospitality, different reactions of husbands who found out that the Turks had stolen their wives, covering up when people didn’t know a foreign language, miming military bravery in front of the enemy, the result of a German soldier’s ambition, the way to delay the return of a money debt, methods of deceiving people, the passion of drinking, units for measuring the length of stay of the Jews in the Romanian area.
