The issue of funding the political parties and election campaigns is a quite sensitive one, both for the actors directly involved in obtaining financial benefits (political parties, institutions of control, and so on), and for the whole society which is quite reticent towards this matter. Unfortunately, at social level the perception of parties’ financing is misunderstood sometimes, or is accepted, but only superficially. Moreover, some opinion leaders, political analysts, journalists etc. often understands the problem related to the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns inadequately or incorrectly. This article aims to examining the ways of direct and indirect public funding of political parties and election campaigns in the states from Black Sea region (Bulgaria, Russian Federation, Georgia, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey) and Moldova. Without taking too many analytical and critical comments on this issue, we will present in a comparative manner the annual amounts established expressly for public funding and eligibility criteria for direct and indirect public financing in the countries of the region, and some key data on the issues under discussion. |
