The following article researches the way Moldovan labor migrants integrate into the EU countries. Judging by Eurostat’s data, the author notes that the number of legal Moldovan migrants (that came to EU countries for various reasons) has changed noticeably. Thus, the more important reasons for migration are working and family reunification. At the same time, we need to mention that many Moldovan migrants arrive, depart or work illegally and have an irregular status. Analyzing the primary aspects of Moldovan labor migrants’ integration in-to the accepting states and societies, the author notes that the integration process is two-way: the accepting states set their rules for migrants’ integration, and the migrants’ own strive to integrate themselves into the new states and societies. The integration process is regarded as a seven-parameter procedure: learning the accepting country’s language, job and labour mobility, family reunification, learning, political activity, permanent residential status, citizenship, antidiscrimination. The article shows the difference in understanding the para-meters (MIPEX index), which is based on the states national policies. These are exemplified by the most popular European migration countries of Moldovan mi-grants. This article uses both statistical data and sociological research data, received from interviewing both migrants and experts on the matter from the Re-public of Moldova and abroad. |
