Rezumat

During the last years we noticed a continuous growth in number of patients with associated cranio-cerebral traumas. Within the overall structure of these injuries cranio-thoracic traumas (CTT) have the highest share (54,4%). During 1980-2008 we examined 2218 patients who suffered cerebral compression and contusion, along with thoracic trauma and thoracic organ injuries. Diagnosis was determined on the bases of clinical investigation, echoencephaloscopy, cerebral and thoracic computer tomography, roentgen and ultrasound investigations, laparocentesis and thoracocentesis, laboratory and ECG-investigations. The utilization of classic “ABCDE” and “AVPU” algorithms, along with Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and “MISS” scale during investigation of patients with severe CTT in pre-hospital stage and in-hospital, allow us to determine quickly and exactly patient’s neurologic status, severity and prognosis of these injuries.
