French and Romanian on one side, and Serbian on the other, use different ways of expressing the hypothesis. Whether depicting future or past, whether real, potential or unreal hypothesis in French can always be introduced by the same connective – si. Only in the forms of verbal and temporal markers is specified the period in which hypothesis stands. Choice of conjunction si with semantic value of hypothesis, blocks the use of certain verb forms in French. In Romanian connectives dacă, de, să, adverb with conjunctional value când and conjunctional phrase, which they form, have regent correlative adverbial elements – suggesting the use of tense. In Serbian, the distinction between a real situation, potential or unreal is already in the connectivity (kada, da, ako) that, once elected, allow or block the use of certain verbal forms. When these three languages use the same verb forms to express the hypothesis are usually restricted to situations where the hypothesis, currently located, is considered as real one. Formation of other types of hypothetical structures is different in these languages. |
