Assessment of land suitability potential is an important step in defining ecological limits of territorial planning. We are talking about looking into the way certain types of land usage influence land productivity. This study evaluates land suitability in the Balţata river basin on the basis of an expert examination of favorability indicators: Slope and land using, soil texture, organic substances content, thickness of humus layer. A land suitability map for agricultural purposes was developed on the basis of modeling. The results of the research show that most of the basin surface is suitable for agriculture, but certain adjustments to local morphological conditions are needed. Almost ¾ of the region has good and fair land suitability, while 14.7% of the region falls moderate and average. 10% of the basin surface is not suitable for agriculture. These include deteriorated areas, populated areas, and water basins.
