Rezumat

Producerea acizilor graşi polienici de către microalge este subiectul unor cercetări biotehnologice intensive şi a unui interes comercial crescînd [12, 16, 21]. Diverse alge marine din Bacillariophyceae (diatomee), Chlorophyceae, Chrysophyceae, Criptophyceae, Eustigmatophyceae şi Prasinophyceae sunt recunoscute ca producători de acizi graşi polienici cu catena a 20-22 atomi de carbon. Un loc deosebit în acest şir îl ocupă alga roşie Porphyridium cruentum biomasa căreea conţine doi acizi graşi polienici cu activitate fiziologică pronunţată: acidul arahidonic (20:4, omega 6) şi acidul eicosapentaenoic (20:5, omega 3) [5]. În acelaşi timp, această microalgă se poate adapta uşor condiţiilor mediului, inclusiv celor de poluare cu metale grele [4].
