The structure and the dynamics of the Eurasian red deer (Cervus elaphus L.) population in the Plaiul Fagului Scientific Reserve. The reserve is a beech forest of 5,642 hectares situated in the northwestern part of the Central Moldovan Plateau. The Eurasian red deer, which disappeared in Moldova at the end of the 19th century, was reacclimatized in 1970. The systematic investigations into the structure
and dynamics of its population are carrying out by the reserve’s specialists and the scientific researchers of the Zoological Institute. The results of these investigations
and proposals for the improvement of the sex and age structure are presented. |
