The Rădoaia Forest – an “oasis” in the Bălţi Steppe. This beautiful forest is situated on a hill exceeding the surrounding cultivated fields – former natural steppe
- by 170 m. It is a natural forest consisting mainly of oak mixed with cherry and linden and sparse secular oaks along its border. There existed hygrophilous vegetation which grew on the top of the hill in the original soil. At the present time, it is almost completely gone. The soil under the forest on the slope of the hill is gray forest soil (albi-luvic phaeozem); while on the surrounding cultivated lands it is chernozem. A
