Rezumat

This article deals with specific characteristics in the teaching-learning process at university level. The goals and objectives of this process cannot be formulated without having to determine the needs of students and of the society, the tasks, activities and operations which must be carried out by the students in order to meet these needs, as well as the competences or the strategies that they need to apply or develop to this end. Teaching is challenging the subject to ask, check, develop and confirm construction of the reality. Thus, the student is no longer the receiver and the teacher the transmitter. There is in fact one single process – that of teaching – learning process where the focus is on the learner/subject. Therefore the teacher must help students to proceed from competence to performance when learning a foreign language.
