The work is dedicated to researching the biography of a Bessarabian ofcer from the First World War period - Colonel Petru Bivol. Despite the forced assimilation of the native population of Bessarabia by the tsarist authorities and the artifcial limitation to education, at the end of the 19th century some Bessarabia’s, despite the dificulties imposed, tried to obtain general and higher education in various felds of activity, including and in the military feld. One of these people was Petru Bivol, the son of a priest from Orhei, who after studying at the Theological Seminary in Chisinau decided to link his fate with the army. Hisbiography is an example of a brilliant career of a Moldovan, who by participating in the Russo-Japanese War, the First World War, had a beautiful military career, reaching the rank of colonel and infantry regiment commander. He actively participated in the formation of the regular army of the Moldavian Democratic Republic.
