Disorders of Glucose Metabolism as a major risk factor in Acute Stroke Patients
Diabetes Mellitus is considered to be one of the most important risk factor in acute
stroke. The prevention of acute stroke or the decrease of its incidence level among this category of patients is posible only by a strict(pharmacological or nonpharmacological) screening of both the glicemic level and other concomitent risk factors. A study on 43 patients with Diabetes Mellitus who had an acute stroke had been performed. In the study the prevalence of 61-70 years old people , especially females (M:F – 1:3,3) has been observed; Also an association of many other risk factors known as the dismetabolic syndrom in about 2/3 of the studied patients has been determined. |
