This article is devoted to the analysis of immigration processes into the Republic of Moldova. For more statistical and factual material analyzed social and ethnic composition of immigrants, disclosed social and legal status of foreign nationals and stateless persons in the Republic of Moldova, shows the main form and purpose of immigration into the country. The author identifies the major trends of modern immigration processes in the Moldovan state. Much attention is paid to consider the phenomenon of refugees in Moldova. The article examines the legal and regulatory framework regulating immigration processes, identifies the main approaches and practices immigration policy, disclosed the main ways to counter illegal immigration and illegal transit, to combat violations of the status of foreign nationals stay in the Republic of Moldova. The author concludes that the immigration policies of modern Moldovan state is largely restrictive. However, recently observed in the evolution of immigration policy, a shift from restrictive to economic and enabling principles in regulation politics of immigration, changing the basic approaches, manifested in the formation of immigration quotas, expanding opportunities for the consolidation of social and employment status of foreigners in Moldova.
