Rezumat

This article discusses the necessity of the student’s civic culture development for the democratization of the Moldovan society. The essence of the civic culture is examined as a type of political culture that assumes the preference for the political democratic values. The civic education is achieved in this study as a theoretical and practical concept of the citizenship formation, as well as a contribution to the citizen’s assimilation of the civil society values. It is mentioned that a society which desires to be democratic is inconceivable without citizenship, and citizenship is not possible without knowledgeable citizen, actively engaged in the life of the society. The article studies the importance of the civic education for the development of the civic culture of the students – the future economical, political and cultural elite of the country. The study focuses on the goal of preparing students to become thoughtful and informed citizens who participate in their communities. The study discusses the convenience of using in the educational process for the forming of the civic competencies of the interactive methods that assume interaction and collaboration of all the participants in this process. A special contribution to the civic education can bring the development of the critical thinking of the students. The article talks about the importance of the existence in the Higher Education Institutions of a democratic medium of the civic education of the students. In conclusion, the civic education, next to professional formation of the students, has to be one of the main objectives in the educational process in the higher education institutions.
