Rezumat

The phenomenon of emergence of civil society in the Republic of Moldova is in deep connection with the development of social capital. But, if we perceive the social capital as a network of social relations, trust and rules, shared by all the citizens of one country, the most difficult thing is to evaluate the level of its development in the Republic of Moldova. We think that it is wrong to say that there is no social capital at all in Republic of Moldova, as some researches do. Nevertheless, the level and power of social capital in our country is still quiet week, but some positive trends can be seen. In order to measure the level of the development of social capital, we applied a methodology proposed by Putnam and other researchers of this phenomemon (Primary factors of the Social Capital, as generalised trust, membership in the NGO (associativenees) interes in politics, and patriotism. From this point of view, we have a very weak, and fragmentarian capital, existing in a restricted area of clan, social group, a network of relatives etc. But this capital does not turn into a „generalised trust”. That΄s why a fragmentarian political culture still exists in Republica Moldova. But if we take into account the secondary factors of the social capital, we have to admit, that Republic of Moldova has good opportunities in moving forvard. Nevertheless, the multicultural approach, shows a very poor level of social capital among moldavians, and a higher level among russians and especially ucrainians.
