Rezumat | ||||||
This paper aims to capture the interconnection among morals, education
and democracy, the role that an educated citizen, guided by moral norms and
values plays in accomplishing the foundation of a democratic society. We try to
demonstrate that in Romania, it is necessary to use education and moral beliefs
in promoting a democratic society based on civic responsibility, direct social
contact, personal responsibility, sense of community, civic engagement, trust
and social justice. Both schools and religious institutions can better prepare for
active citizenship and a strong civil society, regarded as the bedrock of a democratic
state. |
