This article analyzes the role of investment and support from the European Union in the economic development of rural areas in the Republic of Moldova. The economic development of rural areas in the Republic of Moldova is largely based on investment, foreign trade and remittances for economic growth. For Local Authorities, they constitute the main pillar that influences the development of the settlement in economic and social terms. Therefore, the implementation of strategies for the development of rural areas presupposes, first of all, knowledge of the main trends manifested in the field of investment attractiveness. At the same time, the main goal of the Republic of Moldova is to ensure a transparent and favorable business environment for foreign and domestic investors, upholding international law and protecting the market economy, private property, provisions against unfair confiscation of property and the division of power between government structures.
