The tendency of the language to "economise", also known as the principle of minimal effort, is one that rules the dynamics of the language. There are various language phenomena and means in French, transmitting complete information by few elements, during a language exchange, a verbal or written interaction and thus allowing the realization of linguistic economy. It is a series of lexical, semantic, and grammatical means ensuring the principle of economy in language. This article aims at analysing language phenomena that could be used to express a large variety of things using a minimum quantity of time and effort. A considerable role in the achievement and assurance of the economy principle in language is attributed to the semantic language-condensation process, whose function is to deliberately omit certain elements of the term, thus marking the semantic statement more fluent and easier for the participant in the communication. |
