Rezumat

Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is the most common neonatal intracranial hemorrhage and it occurs primarily in premature newborn. The aim of this study is to evaluate neurodevelopmental outcomes of 21 children with low gestational age at birth and IVH. The protocol of study included: the evaluation of weight and waist, biological exam, questionnaires filled in by parents about the evaluation of motor development of the child and some neurological signs, psychological exam, hearing exam, screening for ocular problems was performed by consultant ophthalmologist, electroencephalogram, neonatal cranial ultrasound, MRI and brain CT-scan. The rates of cerebral palsy, intellectual impairment, epileptic seizures, hearing deficit and visual impairment were 57,14%, 47,61%, 23,80%, 14,28% and 52,38% respectively. Preterm children with IVH present high risk for major neurodevelopmental disability. Cerebral palsy, visual impairement and mental retardation remains highly prevalent among this children.
