We studied the quality of the hay obtained from a grassland with Elymus repens (the grassland sector “Fântâna Popii”, 1A) Ghetlova commune (Orhei district), which is found within the boundaries of Orhei National Park. The grass was harvested at the beginning of the flowering stage and was dried under natural conditions. Some quantitative assessments of the main biochemical parameters were made: protein content (PC), ash, acid detergent fibre (ADF), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent lignin (ADL), total soluble sugars (TSS), digestible dry matter (DDM), digestible organic matter (DOM). All parameters have been evaluated using the near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technique PERTEN DA 7200 of the Research-Development Institute for Grassland Brasov, Romania. The concentration of hemicelluloses (HC) and celluloses (Cel), relative feed value (RFV), digestible energy (DE), metabolizable energy (ME), net energy for lactation (NEl) were calculated according to standard procedures. The results revealed that the biochemical composition, the nutritive and energy value of the prepared hay were 67 g/kg PC, 416 g/kg CF, 88g/kg ash, 444g/kg ADF, 718 g/kg NDF, 52 g/kg ADL, 80 g/kg TSS, 392 g/kg Cel and 274 g/kg HC, 47.6% DDM, 41.9% DOM, RFV=70, 8.91 MJ/kg ME and 4.93 MJ/kg NEl. The hay from the grassland with Elymus repens is characterized by low protein content and energy value. This grassland could be improved by sowing it with species of perennial forage legumes (Fabaceae). |
