In Moldova, cerebrovascular accidents occupy one of the leading positions of the morbidity and mortality. In pevious years, great importance has been given to the relationship of oxidative stress and the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemic. A series of clinical and biochemical research showed that the intensification of lipid peroxidation has pathogenetic importance, reducing antioxidant protection in patients with vascular disease of the brain. The purpose of this research was to estimate the 30-day course treatment of Mildronate in terms of the clinical, neurological and neuropsychological performance of patients with acute cerebral circulation disorders (ADCC). The study was conducted on two groups of patients who suffered from nonfatal acute ischemic cerebrovascular accidents from a moderate and serious degree, who were hospitalized during the first 6-18 hours after the accident. 36 patients were included in the research; all between 40 and 70 years old (mean age 55.8 ± 7.39). During treatment with Mildronate, a significant number of patients with ADCC showed recovery. 90.2% of patients showed a significant reduction or disappearance of headaches, 76.2% reported reduction
of vertigo, 66.7% a decrease in tinnitus, and 89.7% reported an increase in general disposition. The examination of neurological status showed that by the end of treatment, 94.3% of patients had improved in their neurological status. In conlusion, due to the antioxidant and neuroprotective properties of the treatment of Mildronate on a patient who have suffered from a lacunary cerebrovascular accident, the treatment has shown to be advisable and pathogenetically justified. |
