În articol sunt prezentate, analizate și publicate materialele cartografice și descrierile insulei Berezan, realizate în sec. XVIII-XIX. Istoricul cercetării insulei este divizat în patru compartimente. În primul sunt descrise materialele din timpul Imperiului Otoman de până la anii 1780 inclusiv. La această etapă sunt atribuite: construcția fortului și farului în 1737, o serie de planuri și proiecte, realizate de A.-J. de Lafitte-Clavé în anul 1784. Cea de-a doua etapă include lucrările lui F.P. de Wollant și A. Meyer din 1791, precum și planurile de reconstituire a întăriturilor rusești din anii 1802-1825. În descrierile căpitanului N.D. Kritsky din 1823 sunt menționate și artefacte antice grecești. A treia etapă se evidențiază prin expedițiile lui A.S. Uvarov din anul 1848 și ale geologului N.P. Barbot de Marny din 1866 și 1867. În cea de-a patra etapă au fost incluse perieghezele și sondajele lui R.A. Prendel (1884), T.V. Kibalchich (1893), B.V. Farmakovsky (1896) și G.L. Skadovsky (1900), care au deschis calea pentru cercetările de amploare realizate de E.R. Stern la începutul sec. XX.

The article presents the review, analysis and publication of cartographic materials and written descriptions of Berezan made in the 18th-19th centuries. The history of the study of the island of that time is given in four sections. The first of these describes materials from the time of the Ottoman Empire to the 1780s, from the project for the construction of a Russian fort with a lighthouse in 1737 to the plans for the island and the projects of A.-J. de Lafitte-Clavé. The second stage includes the works of F.P. de Wollant and A. Meyer in 1791, as well as plans for the restored Russian fortifications of 1802-1825. The descriptions made by Captain N.D. Kritsky mention the discovered ancient Greek artifacts. The third period was marked by the expeditions of A.S. Uvarov in 1848 and geologist N.P. Barbot de Marny in 1866 or 1867. During the fourth period, research was carried out by R.A. Prendel (1884), T.V. Kibalchich (1893), B.V. Farmakovsky (1896) and G.L. Skadovsky (1900), who paved the way for large-scale scientific excavations by E.R. Stern at the beginning of the 20th century.
